Six Sentence Sunday 3/4/12

Howdy! I haven’t played with six sentences in so long, I hope I remember how to do this!

Today I’m sharing six sentences from my new release Company Ink, a contemporary boss/employee story.

Click the cover for blurb, excerpt, and buy links.

Ahem:

“Tell me I’m wrong. Tell me you don’t want me and I’ll leave before I touch you. I’ll never speak of this again. We’ll continue our bickering, and only you and I will know what it truly covers. Or—”

“You’re not wrong,” she whispered.

I hope I make it around to visit everyone after work today. Have a great Sunday!

Saturday Status 11/5/11

Welcome! I’m having a real hard time with putting November in that title. I swear we just had Valentine’s Day! This year is passing so quickly! Sorry I missed last week’s update, but  I was in the middle of a blog hop with a ton of other authors, so I put the status on hiatus. Now I’ve got two weeks’ worth of news to share. Kinda. Check out that wood pile. I’d be afraid to use any of that wood and ruin the work of art!

Work in Progress News ~ I did it again. I started a new book before finishing the one I was working on (or the other eight in the IP file) I wrote over 2K the first day I started it, so it felt good to get some words in. This one is filed as Grant, and it will be a short story by Olivia involving a boss and his employee. I like to have shorts in the IP file, so if I finish this one first, I’ll have to come up with another plot to keep my balance.

Backlist News ~Alanna’s book Retreat got a very nice five star review this week over at Manic Readers.  Alberta  says “I loved this tender and very poignant love story, Retreat that has loads of conflicts, differing goals that must somehow mesh if they are ever to find happiness together. I loved Jake as a modern day hero who would do anything to get Andria back in his arms. Five Stars.” Retreat is one of the books I wrote at the same time as two (maybe three?) others, and so often I forget that I even had anything to do with it. It’s like my shy quiet child being raised amongst wild monsters.

Industry News ~ Amazon announced its Kindle Owners’ Lending Library, which is a service for Prime members only, and not every publisher is on board with this, but think of Amazon as a digital library. Where you can only check out one book per month. And you have to be a club member to get in. But no late fees! I think it’s a great idea, and I hope my books are in the KOLL for the elite Amazonians out there. (Looking into this) Barnes and Noble made their own announcement. It seems that with the mid-month release of the Nook tablet (rumored to be $249) , the Nook color model will drop in price to $199. That’s good news for the nookies out there!

Search Term of the week aka How People Found My Websites ~ This week I got this one: “dot to dot pictures erotic”. I spent about five minutes staring at that search term, wondering what the person was actually looking to find. Then I started wondering if there were any out there. Then I got a piece of paper to make my own. Then I thought about my kid finding it and actually doing the dot to dot.  Then I shook my head.

What I’€™m reading ~ I read Cat Grant’s Once a Marine this week. This comes from the brand new digital first publisher Riptide Publishing. After reading this, and now that they’ve opened submissions, I might just see what I can do to write something worthy. Once a Marine is a lovely story about a Marine discharged under DADT. This book is written in first and third person, that is to say the first person point of view for Marc, one hero, and the chapters in the other hero Cole’s point of view are written in third. You’d think this would be confusing, but it isn’t, it was very smooth. Once a Marine is getting rave reviews, and is a bestseller at Amazon. Cat sure did a great job making Riptide look awesome for their launch.

Hero Quote ~ From my newest WiP mentioned above.

“I notice the way your heart beats like a rabbit’s every time you come into my office. I notice how your pupils dilate when I get close to you. On the very best days I notice other things.”

Favorite Song of the Week ~ Jackson Foote and crew covered Lil Jon’s Get Low <–might want to watch this first to get the full effect. I can’t get enough of this one. Both versions  NSFW!

That’s it for me, folks. I’m working all weekend at the Evil Empire, where they’ve already started piping in Christmas Music. I guess we don’t need a November anyway, right?

Saturday Status 9/3/11

Ugh. September. That means snow is around the corner. And that’s all I have to say about that.

Here’s what’s going on around here:

Work in Progress News ~ I’ve been spending the week going through  Falling Star. I’ll be republishing this one at a lower price, so I had to go through and make sure there weren’t too many ellipses (uh…yikes. I kinda went overboard with those things. Again.)

New Release News ~ Oh boy. You guys are gonna love this. Carina Press has a great promotion going for Romantic Suspense books, including Alanna’s book  PreView which comes out on Monday!  I’m teaming up with six other Carina Press RS authors for a scavenger hunt of sorts. Click the banner and you’ll get more information. (Post goes live Monday, but you never know what you’ll find when you click that banner…)Also, I’ll be guest blogging at a few different places around the webosphere, I’ll be  sure to post links once they’re live.

Industry News ~ This is just a small segment of the industry, but it’s big news for me and a ton of other authors and readers. Ellora’s Cave Publishing has dropped its prices on all EC books at the major distribution sites like Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble. EC has long been criticized for their inflated distro prices. For example my only EC book At Ease, originally sold for $4.45 at the EC site, but $8.45 at Amazon. Now it’s only $4.48 at Amazon! At Ease is a very short (17K) novella, so almost $8.50 was way too pricey in my opinion. So woohoo for EC! Welcome to the age of the Kindle and Nook! (Like how I put my subliminal pimp in there?)

Real Life News ~ Kids are back in school, life has quieted down. This coming weekend I’m taking them on a trip to Yellowstone, so maybe I’ll post some pictures after that. Otherwise, my “real life” has just centered around guest blog posts for next week and getting Falling Star ready for repubbing. I guess that’s pretty boring. Sorry.

Search Term of the week aka How People Found My Websites ~ Someone found AlannaCoca.com by searching for the word “hairy”. Wow. I hope my site was on page 768 for that search, but okay. Over at here, I had this one: “because i’m worth it”. And I hope my site was on page one. In bold.

Hero Quote ~Can’t help it. I’ve got to post something from PreView, since it’s the birthday book.

“I know a lot about you. I know now you’ve got me right where you want me. Close enough to prove how much I want you too.  I also know you started this little fight just so I’d put my hands on you.”

Favorite Song of the Week ~My daughter started singing this the other day, and it’s been stuck in my head since. Now watching the hokey video, I think I’m done with it. What a riot!

Okay, there’s your blast from the past for the week. Also, I’m part of the JustRomance.Me blog hop this weekend. Join us HERE, we’re giving away plenty of books, and we’ll be chatting on Monday, so you’ll have a chance to chat with a handful of authors, and ask us whatever you’d like to know. See you there!

Last Call

I just finished edits for Last Call. At least I think I did. My editor might surprise me with another round. *knock on wood* I know I still have the FLEs, but it’s a short one, so that shouldn’t be too bad.

If you’d like to read an excerpt, there is one posted on the coming soon thread in the Liquid Silver Books forum. Just click the little Last Call cover to get there. Let me know what you think!

Saturday Survey 4/17/10

Ah, almost as awkward as the first date. Or the first kiss. It’s the “first morning after”. It could give you an insight into the future of the relationship. If you wake up alone and the John Doe is MIA, you know it’s a bad sign. Assuming that isn’t the case, share with me your idea of the normal Morning After scenario:

Saturday Survey 4/10/10

Imagine this: You’re enjoying a night out with your other single friends. There is plenty of eye candy…one guy is just your type. You send the right signals, he returns them, and finally he makes his way over. First impression is good: Nice eyes, smells great, well built, clean hands….then he opens his mouth, and he sounds like Beaker from the Muppets. If you can restrain your giggles, do you put that aside and get to know him better? Or is that just the one thing you can’t deal with? If not the voice, then what is it that would make you turn down an otherwise perfect catch? I had so many “hell no”s that I couldn’t list them all here on the poll. (No, I’m not picky…) Let me know your “no-fricking-way”s.

Saturday Survey

Okay, you’re walking down a dark alley, in search of a good time…when suddenly two creatures appear from around a corner. A sexy vampire, and a sexy werewolf. You’ve got one hour and a hotel room key. What’s your choice?

Saturday Survey 2/6/10

Okay, you know these guys. The type of men that could read you the newspaper, and you’d still swoon. The Irish accent was recently voted the sexiest. There are so many that I’ve left off…so feel free to leave a comment and let me know your favorite.

What is it about accents? Is the American accent sexy to a European woman? These are the things that keep me awake at night folks. Well, that and some of these guys are just too sexy for words…but don’t stop talking boys, we love ya.

Saturday Survey 1/30/10

Okay, today’s Saturday Survey asks the age old question that keeps me awake at night.

Which is sexier, a cowboy or a fireman?

We’ve got two hard-working guys here, neither one is afraid of getting a little dirty, and they both have to tame wild beasts.

What do you think?

Blog Tour – Fill Your E-Reader Here!

So, you’ve found your way from Annie Nicholas’ blog! This is the last stop of the day, but of course you’re more than welcome to go back to the beginning at Paige Tyler’s site, and start all over again. I wouldn’t blame you at all. I’m giving away a copy of my contemporary novel For a Price, a story about what *really* happens in Vegas.

Anyone who knows me, knows my unhealthy crush on Mr. Channing Tatum. Even though he still has yet to show up to my house for dinner. That’s okay Chan…we can eat out…Oh, Mr. Tatum. How you tempt me with your stoicism.     I think there’s plenty of room on the back of that bike for me…maybe the front

Okay, so there are other things about Channing that I find tempting.

Oh, look at that, my hands were accidentally shown in the picture. And no, I will not share all the measurements I took *vbg*

I hope you all enjoyed the tour. Good luck to each of you! We’ll draw the winners tomorrow, and post them by 1pm EST in this Liquid Silver Books Forum Thread. Now, since you’re all done with the tour, please come by the Chat Room hosted by author Gem Sivad.
